GLV staff, trustees and volunteers
GLV staff
Eithne joined as GLV’s Director in August 2011 bringing a wealth of experience, most recently as Director of Community Links Bromley and Chief Executive of the Federation of Irish Societies. She has also been an active volunteer within education, arts and youth organisations.
Lynne Fearn – Income Generation Manager
Also appointed in August 2011, Lynne left Teenage Cancer Trust to take on the challenge of fundraising for GLV. She previously worked with Childline and also brings volunteering experience gained with NSPCC, Cancer Research and her local childrens’ playgroup.
Sid Li – Office Administrator
Sid joined GLV in January 2009 and manages the GLV office in her role as Office Administrator. Acting as an initial point of contact for the organisation, she juggles a varied bag of tasks to support the GLV team, its members and network, and keep the office running as smoothly as possible, as well as managing GLV events and its day-to-day finances.
Going back in time, Sid’s career was largely spent working in music, media and entertainment, in the areas of retail, personnel, property, marketing and design. Her first experience of working in the third sector was when she joined Richmond CVS in 2004, where she was employed as an office manager and also helped run Richmond Volunteer Centre. Her main volunteering experiences to date have been as a buddy for the Terence Higgins Trust, the running of an under-5s playgroup and helping out at a local school. She is the original ‘jack of all trades’ and always willing to help out when she can.
Anne Layzell – Experts in Volunteering Development Manager
Anne is Development Manager on GLV’s Experts in Volunteering project, including responsibility for working with our six partner Volunteer Centres in the Central sub-region. She has been at GLV since the project launched in June 2009.
Anne has worked in the voluntary sector since records began, in a range of large and small service delivery organisations; particular interests have been mental health, and young people. She’s also worked freelance with voluntary organisations, and still works with Children in Need, which provides a great insight into issues faced by small, often struggling, organisations.
After many years of personal involvement in all sorts of volunteering, Anne’s taking a break. However, it’s only a question of time before she’ll be at it again!
Marzena Zoladz – Experts in Volunteering South London Development Worker (currently on Maternity Leave)
Marzena is responsible for running the Experts in Volunteering project in six South London boroughs, supporting Volunteer Centres in the delivery of good practice for volunteer managers.
In 2007, Marzena set up a voluntary run organisation focused on promoting Polish creative immigrants. It quickly grew in numbers of people involved and the events attracted large audiences. This made me realise the impact volunteering can have not only on the volunteers involved but also on the wider community. On a more practical level, I gained from my volunteering first hand experience in recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers.
May Macnair – Experts in Volunteering West London Development Worker
May started as the Experts in Volunteering Development Worker for West London at the beginning of March 2010. She works closely with Volunteer Centres and VIOs to improve volunteering good practice across the region.
May previously worked at the Refugee Council where she worked with Refugee Community Organisations, is a volunteer caseworker at the Red Cross, has an interest in photography and has put together photos and video case studies on the Experts website.
Jennifer Anderson – Experts in Volunteering East London Development Worker
Jen joined GLV in 2009, working across the nine boroughs of East London.
She completed her BA (hons) English and Education at the University of Central Lancashire, and remained in Preston for two years following her degree as Equal Opportunities Officer in the Student Union Executive. Jen took a year out to volunteer in Central America, and on her return to the UK became Volunteer Co-ordinator at Liverpool Guild of Students.
Jen has volunteered in a charity shop in Sweden, a school for street kids in Mozambique, a school in Honduras, an orphanage in Guatemala, and absolutely loves volunteering!
Lisa Robbins – Experts in Volunteering North London Development Worker
Lisa joined GLV in September 2009 and works part-time as the North London Experts in Volunteering Development Worker. On graduating in Ecology, Lisa worked in the private sector in Human Resources and then moved into the public sector in the same field studying for an MA along the way. She became involved in her current area of work while volunteering at her local volunteer centre in Barnet during a break from work for caring responsibilities.

Nia comes to GLV after three years with Family Action as a Parent Involvement Co-ordinator. There she set up a volunteering programmes for local parents in Roehampton & Putney. Prior to that Nia was a Home-Start Co-ordinator in Camden for six years. Both posts involved recruiting, training and supervising parents in Local Sure-Start Locailities.
While raising her two children Nia actively volunteered in their Playgroups, Nurseries and Schools, sititng as Chair, Treasurer and Governor. Currently focusing on further education, Nia is also an Accredited Facilitator for the Strengthening Families/Strenghten Communities Parenting Programme.

Since June 2009, Jane has volunteered with The Wave of Friendship, a project to promote volunteer exchanges between London and Scotland. Jane is active in her community in Waltham Forest where she is Chair of the Civic Society and represents her area on the Community Council and Community Safety Board. Additional to her role at GLV, she volunteers at her local Oxfam shop.
Sarah Browning – Communications Advisor
Sarah joined GLV as a volunteer in October 2009. She started by writing a communications strategy, helping Kerry and the team work out how they already used various forms of communication to keep in touch with volunteer centres and other stakeholders and how they wanted to communicate with them in the future. She is now supporting communication around the Experts in Volunteering Project, by offering advice, tips and encouragement to the team.
Sarah has worked in staff communications for the past ten years, most recently with the national charity, Cancer Research UK. She is now working as a freelance communications and engagement specialist, with a focus on helping not-for-profit organisations work closely together to achieve their amazing visions. Other volunteering roles have included sorting stock in an Oxfam clothing depot, handing out finshers’ medals and even counting the number of women who crossed the line at a fun run!
Graham Andrews – Social Media Coordinator
Graham is a retired company director with a background in publishing. He now runs www.idf50.co.uk, a website which challenges the stereotypes of older people. Idf50 campaigns vigorously against age discrimination and for the closing of the digital divide, especially for older people.
