Hi Rachel, really sorry, we've only just come across your comment. We don't broker volunteer opportunities ourselves and would recommend you contact your local Volunteer Centre or have a look at www.do-it.org.uk to search for suitable opportunities. There's links to both on the Volunteer Centres & Members page of the website. Good luck and all the best.

Thanks for getting in touch.

I'm afraid we don't actually broker opportunities at GLV. For such a large group I would recommend you contact your local London Volunteer Centre (see the Volunteer Centre page of the website). Some, such as Southwark, Hammersmith and Westminster, have an Employer Supported Volunteeering service which is spefically designed to help with what you're looking for.
You could also search the London Events Volunteering Calendar for one off opportunities you're interested in (www.eventsvolunteering.org.uk). And you might also want to look at the Wave of Friendship (http://www.peoplemakingwaves.org.uk/thewaveoffriendship), a bursary scheme for Londoners to volunteer in Scotland.
Hope this helps - good luck for now.

In 2010 Volunteer Centre Southwark helped 11,869 people including 284 voluntary groups, 50% more that 2009-10. Of these, as a direct result of our work 3021 have started volunteering in Southwark, and we have provided advice and support to a further 8848 people and voluntary groups.

A conservative estimate of the economic value of the time that the people we have helped have given to Southwark is £2,000,000. In addition our corporate partners directly gave £77,000 to the groups they were supporting.

This breaks down to:

1063 people who started volunteering after getting advice on what they could do
1417 people from large companies volunteered on one day ‘team challenges’
270 people who have taken up an active citizenship opportunity
58 people with mental ill health supported to volunteer in the community
112 people whom are long term unemployed completed structured work experience placements in the community

4679 People registered with us wanting to volunteer in Southwark
739 seen for a 1:1 or group advice session about volunteering
554 people attended training on how to be active in the community
1577 people engaged through Active Citizens Hub outreach
284 voluntary groups given advice about volunteering
149 voluntary groups attended training on volunteer management
73 voluntary groups attended the Volunteer Management Forum
