Experts in Volunteering – assess and develop your practice
Experts in Volunteering was a GLV initiative, supported by the Big Lottery Fund for 3 years until June 2012. The project has ended but the Experts in Volunteering audit process and resources are still available to organisations wanting to assess or improve their practice in volunteer management. This process was the core of outreach work with hundreds of organisations in the course of the project. You can now access a do-it-yourself version of the process in 3 steps.
Step 1. Download and personalise The Volunteer Management Charter. This indicates your commitment to supporting volunteers.
Step 2. Work through the online Volunteer Management Health Check. This will identify and prioritise any areas for improvement.
Step 3. Download the generic action plan (.pdf). This will suggest solutions and improvements.
In the resource section you can download free templates and materials to help you complete your action plan. Remember that your local Volunteer Centre can offer additional support on volunteer management.
