What can volunteers expect from Volunteer Centre Westminster? They will do their best to make you feel welcome, they will treat people of all backgrounds with respect and appreciation and they will ask you about the kinds of things you like to do, what interests you and what you want to gain from your volunteering experience. They will then use their database of over 800 opportunities across Westminster to match you with suitable organisations and opportunities, give you details of the organisation you have chosen. Areas of work that you can become involved in include: Animals, Art and culture, Children, Disability, Disaster Relief, Domestic Violence, International Aid, Music, Legal work and many more. If you want to find a volunteering opportunity of your choice simply drop in. Volunteer Centre Westminster is open for the public between Monday and Thursday except public holidays. VC Westminster also work with organisations and local groups. Through the Quality Volunteering Project, VC Westminster offer a range of support to volunteer involving organisations, both for those setting up volunteer programmes for the first time and to those facing more complex issues. The overall aim is to ensure that organisations are complying with good practice and that volunteers have a positive experience during their placements. Any voluntary, community or statutory organisation that currently involves or wishes to involve volunteers in the activities of their work. Services on offer include Pre-Registration/ Induction Sessions, Guidance on writing and creating Volunteering Opportunities, Volunteer Managers’ Forums, Support with Investing in Volunteers and Training Sessions.
